Dhaka, Nov. 16 -- The government made some important new postings on the police, including a new commissioner for one of the largest and most critical police forces in the country - the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).

It also posted six new superintendents of police (SPs) in as many key districts across the country - Faridpur, Gaibandha, Dinajpur, Habiganj, Pabna, and Nilphamari - aiming to maintain law and order ahead of the elections.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification to this end on Sunday.

According to the notification, SP of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Mohmmad Sarwar Alam has been appointed SP of Gaibandha, while SP of Dinajpur Md Marufat Hussein has been transferred to Faridpur as SP.
