, Jan. 23 -- The Army arrested a man while he was extorting money by posing as a member of the Bangladesh Army in Faridpur sadar on Thursday.

The arrestee was identified as Md Arif Sheikh, 39.

He was caught red-handed at Kishan Hat in the Goalchamat area on Thursday night.

Later, he was handed over to Kotwali Police Station and shown arrested in a fraud case under a special law.

In a press release on Friday, the Faridpur Army Camp stated that the arrest was made during a joint operation around 9:30pm on Thursday.

Arif is a resident of the Goalchamat area and claimed to work for the "Daily Ghoshona."

Arif was collecting money from people by using a fake army identity.
