Kishoreganj, Aug. 30 -- A record Tk 12,93,72,220 was collected from the donation boxes at the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj, officials said after 14 hours of calculations on Saturday.

In addition to cash, the mosque also received foreign currency and gold jewelry.

The donation boxes were opened at 7:00 am Saturday in the presence of Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Fauzia Khan, and Police Superintendent Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, and the cash was brought to the mosque's upper floor for counting.

Nearly 500 people, including 340 madrasa students, 100 bank staff, 34 mosque committee members, and 20 law enforcement officials, spent hours counting the money.
