Narail, Nov. 17 -- A woman has filed a case against the Investigation Officer of Kalia Police Station under Section 11C/30 of the Prevention of Women and Children's Torture Act 2000 (Amended 2025), accusing him of physical and mental torture and demanding dowry.

Judge Maruf Hasan of the Kalia Administrative Court took the case as cognizance on Sunday and assigned the investigation to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

According to the case statement, Most Sadia Kaniz Siddika Brishty was allegedly tortured on October 19 at around 6:30pm in a guest room on the third floor of the Kalia Municipality Rest House.

The plaintiff said she married Inspector (Investigation) Md Hasanul Kabir on April 6, 2008, giving Tk 2 lakh as dowry.
