Dhaka, July 2 -- Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has suffered a legal setback as the Calcutta High Court has directed him to pay Rs 4 lakh per month as maintenance to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and daughter Aaira.
As per the court order, Hasin Jahan will receive Rs 1.5 lakh per month, while their daughter Aaira will be entitled to Rs 2.5 lakh. The maintenance amount will be applicable retroactively for the last seven years. The lower court has been asked to resolve the pending case within six months.
The legal battle, filed under the 'Protection of Women from Domestic Violence' Act, has been ongoing for years, alongside other personal disputes between the couple.
