Bangladesh, Dec. 8 -- A housewife was killed in an attack by her rivals over land dispute at Jangaldi West Nayapara village in Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Anwara Begum, 55, wife of Torab Ali of the upazila.

Torab Ali and his cousin Shamsul Haque were at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

On Sunday morning, an altercation ensued between Anwara and Shamsul when he along with his associates went to the disputed land.

At one stage, they hit Anwara with a bamboo stick on her head, leaving her dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent it to local hospital morgue.
