, Feb. 13 -- Despite the pervasive poverty in Dashar upazila of Madaripur district, Chander Alo Cooperative Credit Union is thriving against the odds.

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) report, which was released on January 30, Dashar in Madaripur was named as the poorest area in the country.

Over 63% of Dashar's population falls below the poverty line, said the report.

For over a decade, women of Chander Alo Cooperative Credit Union have been working to ensure their community does not get stuck in the poverty that surrounds them.
