, Jan. 20 -- A wave of sorrow swept through Alipur village in Cumilla's Adarsha Sadar upazila as family members, relatives, and neighbours were left in shock following the killing of RAB officer Motaleb Hossain.

Motaleb, Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-7, was shot dead and three others were injured in a gun attack by armed criminals while recovering weapons in the hilly area of Jungle Salimpur in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Monday.

The RAB official, the youngest of 11 children of Abdul Khaleque Bhuiyan from Alipur village, lived in a rented house in Dhaka with his family.

He is survived by two daughters and a son.

Known in his village as a friendly man, Motaleb maintained close ties with local residents.
