Dhaka, June 26 -- The government has announced August 5 as 'July Uprising Day' and August 8 as 'New Bangladesh Day,' commemorating key events in the country's recent history.
The Cabinet Division issued separate circulars on Wednesday confirming the decision.
August 8 marks the day when the interim government was formed following the overthrow of the previous government amid a mass uprising by students and the public.

Besides, the government declared July 16 as Martyr Abu Sayeed Day, in remembrance of the student who was killed in police firing in Rangpur during the mass movement.
