Dhaka, March 20 -- Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain on Wednesday blamed the government's apathy for the growing road fatalities in the country.

In a statement, he also said people are being subjected to unnatural deaths on roads every day as the government has failed to take any effective step in this regard.

Dr Kamal said students placed some demands during their movement for 'safe roads', nine months back. "A few demands were accepted verbally. But the road accidents have increased due to indifference of the government and the authorities concerned to this end."

He regretted that brilliant student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury died when the traffic week is on, forcing the students to take to the streets again.
