Dhaka, Aug. 3 -- Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has announced a general holiday for all ready-made garment (RMG) factories on August 5 to observe 'July Uprising Day'.
The association stated that the decision was made to show solidarity with the government-declared national holiday and to pay tribute to the martyrs of the movement, according to a press release.
The BGMEA clarified that, although the government has declared August 5 a general holiday, it is not legally mandatory for garment factories to close.
