Dhaka, Jan. 1 -- Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has said Bangladesh is fully prepared to hold 'free, fair, and peaceful' elections on February 12 next year.

Prof Yunus said that around 700,000 Bangladeshis living and working abroad have registered for postal ballots after the interim government introduced the system for the first time in the country's history.

The upcoming national election featured prominently in the discussions with the foreign dignitaries that visited Bangladesh on Wednesday and Thursday to join former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's funeral ceremony and pay last respects to her.
