Dhaka, Oct. 15 -- Fire Service officials on Wednesday broke open the door of a chemical godown, locally known as Hazi Alam's Chemical Godown, at Shialbari in Rupnagar Residential Area of capital's Mirpur.

The door was broke open day after a devastating fire triggered by a powerful explosion swept through the chemical warehouse and a garment factory on Tuesday morning.

Fire Service officials said although the door has been opened, the stored chemicals are yet to be removed from the site.

Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell Station Officer Talha Bin Jasim said firefighters resumed rescue operations around 8am on Wednesday.
