Dhaka, June 8 -- China has signed a general contract with Russia for constructing two more VVER-1200 reactor-based nuclear power plants.

According to a statement of Russian nuclear energy agency Rosatom, the contract was signed in Moscow on June 5 during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Russia.

The VVER-1200 reactor-based nuclear power units designed by Russia will be built at China's Xudapu nuclear power plant site.

Russia is already constructing two nuclear power units based on VVER reactor at Rooppur of Pabna district in Bangladesh, said Rosatom.
