, Dec. 23 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday alleged that a vested quarter is 'dangerously conspiring' to obstruct Bangladesh's democratic transition process.

"Bangladesh is now going through a transition period. A brutal fascist rule destroyed our values, democratic institutions and the economy," he said while speaking at a press conference at the party chairperson's Gulshan office.

After emerging from that fascist rule, the BNP leader said the nation is now moving towards an election, with the expectation that an elected government and an elected parliament will guide the country and the people in the right direction.
