Chandpur, July 27 -- At least 10 people were injured when a BNP-backed mass rally came under attack in Kachua upazila of Chandpur on Saturday afternoon.

According to local sources, the rally was organised in protest against alleged insults directed at BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman. The protest, led by BNP supporter Mosharraf Hossain, began with a gathering and later turned into a procession in Rahimanagar Bazar area.

Eyewitnesses said a group of rival political activists launched an attack on the procession, welding sticks and throwing bricks, leaving at least 10 people injured.
