Dhaka, July 15 -- Popular reality show Love Island is once again under scrutiny for how it portrays and treats Black women, sparking renewed conversations about racial bias and colorism in modern dating, both on-screen and in real life.

Now in its 12th season in the U.K. and having just wrapped its 7th U.S. season, the show has repeatedly drawn criticism for the consistent pattern of Black female contestants being picked last or eliminated early. Fans say the show highlights how darker-skinned women are often seen as less desirable, a reflection of broader societal biases.
