India, May 22 -- Thailand is preparing for a major intensification of the monsoon season, with heavy rains forecast across up to 46 provinces from May 23-27, 2025. The Thailand Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued warnings of intense monsoonal conditions, advising residents to be vigilant for the risk of flash floods in low-lying areas and dangers posed by rising waterways and forest runoff in various regions.
The intensifying southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is the primary driver behind this expected surge in rainfall. This strengthening weather system will increase precipitation across much of the country, with upper Thailand particularly vulnerable to heavy rains.
