India, Jan. 16 -- Indian Railways has temporarily suspended the New Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express, the country's second train connecting the national capital with Jammu and Kashmir. The technology-forward train (22439/22440) was routed between New Delhi Railway Station and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi Vande Bharat Express (22477/22478), however, will continue to operate as per routine.
Train number 22439/22440's 50-day halt in operation (from January 16 to March 6, 2025) is part of 65 other train cancellations from the Jammu Railway Station in the wake of renovation work along the Jammu yard.
