Dhaka, March 14 -- Before the coming monsoon, six canals that have been renovated in the city will be re-excavated, said Lt. Col. Ferdous Ahmad, Director of the Drainage Project.

He said this at a coordination meeting organized at the Bangladesh Army's 34 Construction Brigade office on Tuesday (March 12) afternoon.

Ferdous Ahmad said in the meeting, we are working to prevent waterlogging in the next monsoon season. There are plans to re-excavate the canals, especially those that have been renovated, in stages.

Canals around low-lying areas will be re-excavated so that the city dwellers do not have to suffer during monsoons.
