Dhaka, July 29 -- A teacher in Rajshahi University (RU) has invented a technology in collaboration with a Japanese researcher to free arsenic from water creating a hope of mitigating the country's arsenic problem to a greater extent.

"We have already adopted measures of installing the technology in some arsenic-infected areas in Rajshahi region," said Prof Monzur Hossain of the Department of Botany in RU.

Prof Hossain and Prof Tom Bury Kaoakami from the Department of Water Engineering in Japan's Toyama University have jointly invented the technology namely 'Removal of Arsenic through Electronic System' after a five-year long intensive research.
