Dhaka, Feb. 4 -- An Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) team, in a drive, arrested an active members of the banned militant organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir from Dhaka's Notun Bazar area under Bhatara Police Station on Friday.

The arrestee has been identified as Tamij Ahammed Sobuj, 32, also convicted and sentenced to two-year imprisonment in an Anti-Terrorism Act case, in absentia.

Waheeda Parveen, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP-Media and Awareness) of ATU confirmed the matter to the media.

A police team arrested Sobuj from Notun Bazar area at around 9am on Friday. Police said the convicted fugitive was hiding for seven years and was tried in his absence, ATU officials said.
