Dhaka, May 11 -- The government has categorised hotels and restaurants based on their number of rooms and seats and announced minimum monthly wages for the workers and employees of the sector accordingly.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on May 05 issued a gazette notification categorising hotels into five and restaurants into four groups. It announced Tk 13,050 as minimum monthly wages for the workers of the sector with five per cent annual increment.

According to the notification, hotels having at least 10 rooms has been categorised as one-star, followed by two-star having 30 rooms, three-star having 50 rooms, four-star having 75 rooms and five-star hotels having 100 rooms.
