Dhaka, Dec. 4 -- Adviser Mahfuj Alam has sought the support of the United Kingdom in recovering laundered money that was transferred abroad, emphasising that such funds are crucial for stabilising Bangladesh's fragile economy left by the previous autocratic regime.
"Laundered money has gone from our land to your land. We want that money back to help run our economy," Mahfuj told Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, during her visit to his office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Mahfuj also briefed the High Commissioner on the government's ongoing efforts to build a national consensus on key issues, including the electoral process, according to a spokesperson from the chief adviser's office.
