Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- A huge amount of essential commodities has already arrived at Chittagong Port ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, with more shipments in the pipeline.
Additionally, a substantial quantity of food items are waiting at the outer anchorage and at sea to be unloaded onto lighterage ships, ruling out the possibility of market instability by creating food shortage this year, sources said.
According to Chittagong Customs, the process of importing goods begins at least three months before the Ramadan and this time is no exception. Millions of dollars worth of LCs have been issued to import necessaries.
