Dhaka, Nov. 14 -- Nurul Kabir, Editor of the New Age, and Dewan Hanif Mahmud, Editor and Publisher of the daily Banik Barta, have been elected president and general secretary (GS), respectively, of the Editors' Council for a two-year term.

The election took place at the AGM at The Daily Star Centre in the capital on Thursday. Tasmima Hossain, Editor of The Daily Ittefaq, has been elected vice president, while Rusho Mahmud, Editor of the daily Suprobhat Bangladesh, assistant general secretary.
