Dhaka, Jan. 22 -- Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange ended negatively on Wednesday, as investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence, with selling dominance in particular large-cap stocks.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased by 25.37 points to settle at 5,177.24.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 5.49 points to 1,919.76, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 6.76 points to 1,166.02 by the close.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 4.13 billion, down 17.3 per cent from the previous trading day.
