CIABOC probes Ambuluwawa Cable Car project
Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- The controversial Ambuluwawa Cable Car project, already mired in environmental concerns and procedural violations, now faces a fresh challenge as the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has launched a formal inquiry into alleged irregularities.
The probe follows a complaint filed by journalist Tharindu Jayawardhana, who alleged violations of tender procedures in awarding the project to Amber Adventure (Pvt) Ltd and breaches of Article 23(b) of the National Environment Act. Inside sources told the Sunday Observer that CIABOC has already seized several key files from the Ambuluwawa Trust Fund.
