Nepal, Oct. 7 -- The newly appointed Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court Prakash Man Singh Raut has pledged to maintain the credibility and trustworthiness of the judiciary.

After taking office at the Supreme Court following an oath-taking ceremony at the President's Office on Sunday, Raut emphasized his commitment to reducing the backlog of cases and enhancing the reputation of the judiciary.

"Our judiciary has regained its rhythm, which is a matter of pride," he said, "The court is transparent, and I will strive to uphold the sanctity of justice." He added that judicial reforms are a necessity, with no alternative.
