Nigeria, April 14 -- Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Uwemedimo Nwoko, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State.

He was arrested on Tuesday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, sources familiar with the matter told this medium.

When contacted, the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent.

"Yes, the story is true he (Mr Nwoko) has been arrested," Mr Uwujaren said.

Asked for further details about the arrest, he said, "I do not have information on that."
