Tenova collaborates with GE Vernova to supply the world's largest Electric Arc Furnance to Nippon Steel's Yawata Works
Japan, Feb. 5 -- GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business has been contracted to supply its Direct Feed power system as part of Tenova's delivery of a record-breaking Consteel(R) Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) for Nippon Steel's Yawata Area at Kyushu Works.Once installed, the new furnace becomes the world's most powerful EAF with a heat size of 340 tons, enabling the use of high percentages of virgin iron units for producing high-quality steel grades.For this project, GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business is responsible for engineering, delivery, and supervision of installation of two 33 kV Direct Feed systems, along with two 33 kV, 180 MVA transformers operating in parallel, and associated balance-of-plant equipment includin...
