IFC Invests in Compartamos Banco to Boost Financial Inclusion for Micro and Small Enterprises in Peru
Peru, Feb. 9 -- With the aim of expanding access to credit for micro and small enterprises (MSEs), with a special focus on women-owned businesses, and supporting Peru's efforts to foster inclusive economic growth and financial inclusion, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, has approved an investment in Compartamos Banco.Compartamos Banco, part of the Gentera Group, serves more than 1.4 million clients across 23 regions in Peru, with 85 percent of its portfolio dedicated to MSEs. The bank is a market leader in group lending, reaching 53 percent of its clients through this innovative model.
