BHUBANESWAR, Sept. 22 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), on Monday sought an Action Taken Report (ATR) within four weeks from the Odisha Health and Family Welfare Secretary over the denial of treatment to two Covid-19 positive patients.

The NHRC passed direction taking cognisance of a petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer and human rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy. The petitioner had alleged that two persons died due to failure, inaction and negligence of doctors and staffs of Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). On September 14, one Sushanta Prusty, of Nadhara village in Odapada block died due to medical negligence at DHH.
