New Delhi, July 23 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday accepted Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation from the post of Vice President of India. A letter to the effect has also been notified by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). With the post of vice president now vacant, the Election Commission of India is expected to announce a schedule for the election of the new candidate soon.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Dhankhar, who has resigned on health grounds, good health and said he got many opportunities to serve the country in various capacities.
