SUNDARGARH, June 13 -- The headmasters and headmistresses of as many as 126 high schools of Sundargarh district have been served show-cause notices for poor performance of their students in matriculation examination this year.

They have been asked to submit a written reply to their show cause notice mentioning why actions would not be taken against them. Sources said after examining the performances of different schools of Sundargarh district in the matriculation examination, District Education Officer (DEO) Ranjan Kumar Giri has served a show cause notice to as many as 126 Government schools of Sundargarh district, whose results were less than 50 per cent.
