Manila, Feb. 14 -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a vital flood mitigation structure along Penaranda River in Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.
DPWH 3 (Central Luzon) Director Roseller Tolentino, in a news release Friday, said the newly constructed flood mitigation structure worth PHP94.57 million has significantly reduced the risk of flooding in the area.
The project includes a 312.40-meter double-berm system, a 10-meter-wide dike, and reinforced concrete slope protection.
"The completed flood control project not only safeguards the community but also ensures agricultural stability by preventing crop damage and boosting opportunities to fish farming," he added.
