Manila, Feb. 7 -- The majority of lawmakers in the House of Representatives are in favor of the proposal to remove the travel tax imposed on Filipinos departing for abroad, House tourism committee vice chair, Palawan 3rd District Rep. Gil Acosta Jr., said on Saturday.

Speaking at a news forum in Quezon City, Acosta said Congress is set to discuss in the coming weeks whether to push for limited exemptions or the total abolition of the travel tax.
