Manila, Dec. 29 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has reminded private sector employers on the proper pay rules for December 30, Rizal Day, a regular holiday.
Under Labor Advisory No. 17 signed by Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, employees who work on Rizal Day are entitled to double pay, or 200 percent of their basic wage, for the first eight hours of work.
Employees who do not report for work on the holiday are still entitled to 100 percent of their daily wage, provided they were present at work or were on approved leave with pay on the workday immediately preceding the holiday.
