Manila, July 2 -- Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro has emphasized the vibrant democracy in the Philippines during a meeting with the visiting European Union (EU) mission that recently observed the 2025 May polls.

Lazaro said she had a constructive meeting with the mission, which is in Manila to present its final report, containing a full assessment and recommendation following the midterm elections.

"I highlighted the Philippines' vibrant democracy and active electoral participation, thanked the EU for its recommendations, and underscored the need for stronger interparliamentary linkages," she said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
