Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- The controversy over Maharashtra's upcoming Marathi film 'Khalid Ka Shivaji' has intensified. A Mumbai-based Hindu organization has objected to the film and has demanded the censor board to ban its screening. The film is scheduled to release on August 8 and it is alleged that the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been shown incorrectly in it.

The Pune-based Hindu Mahasangh has sent an objection letter to the censor board and the makers of the film. The organization's president Anand Dave says that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been shown as a secular ruler in the film, which is contrary to his real identity. He has warned that if the film is not banned, protests will be held outside the cinema halls.
