India, Jan. 16 -- Epic Games will have to cough up $520 Million in fines in a settlement with the FTC due to violations of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and allegations that they deployed design tricks known as 'dark patterns' to dupe millions of players into making unintentional purchases. FTC alleges that Epic pairing children and teens with strangers and failing to introduce parental control systems exposed them to dangerous and psychologically traumatizing issues.
