Bhubaneswar, Jan. 20 -- A three-day program for dolphin census in Odisha's Chilika Lake began this morning with a total of 18 teams from the Chilika Wildlife Division being dispatched from Chilika and Satpada.
As per reports, the dolphin census will start at 6 am and continue till noon each day from the 20th to the 22nd of January. While 8 teams from Satpada are conducting the census in the northern outer channel, 10 teams from Balugaon are working in the central and southern channels of the lake.
A team of volunteers comprising wildlife enthusiasts, students, researchers and six members of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) also joined the exercise. Equipped with gears such as spotting binoculars, GPS trackers, and sonic equipment, ...
