India, March 18 -- After extensive discussions with educationists and experts, the Odisha government has decided to set the minimum age for admission into Class 1 at six years or above, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This move aims to ensure the holistic and structured academic development of students, aligning with global educational standards.
In Odisha, the implementation of NEP 2020 will commence from the academic session 2025-26. As part of this initiative, the age requirement for Class 1 admission has been officially set at six years or older. The decision is expected to enhance the learning experience of children by providing them with a strong foundational education before progressing to higher classes.
