The Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar has welcomed a new member to its animal family with the birth of a Gaur (Bos gaurus) calf on July 9 at 5:25 PM. The birth took place in Enclosure No. 42, bringing joy to the zoo authorities and conservationists alike.
This is the second Gaur birth at the zoo in a little over a year-the last calf was born on June 5, 2024. Both parents of the newborn were also born at Nandankanan, highlighting the success of the zoo's breeding program. The mating of the pair was observed in November 2024.
