Imphal: An Assam Rifles jawan was injured in a fierce encounter between Indian security forces and suspected People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Manipur along the India-Myanmar border on Friday morning.
The clash erupted around 9 AM between Konkhan Thana and Yaingoupokpi villages in Manipur's Tengnoupal and Kamjong districts.
Acting on intelligence input, 3 Assam Rifles Battalion personnel from Moreh initiated a cordon and search operation. However, they were ambushed by the insurgents, triggering a 30-minute firefight.
SC Sahu, a 34-year-old jawan, sustained injuries during the exchange of firing. He was evacuated to Shija Hospital in Imphal for medical treatment.
