New Delhi, May 16 -- Rekha Gupta, expressing grave concern over unprecedented pollution levels in Delhi during the month of May. Citing data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), she stated that Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) has remained above 500 for several days-a scenario previously unseen in this month.
Atishi highlighted that from 2022 to 2024, there was not a single day in May when the AQI crossed 243. In contrast, in May 2025, several days have seen AQI breach the 500 mark, which she described as "extremely hazardous." She alleged that the failure of the current BJP-led government in Delhi, with four engines-BJP, LG office, MCD, and central agencies-has resulted in a complete breakdown of air quality management.
