New Delhi, June 9 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has clarified that the recent removal of slums from the Barapullah drain area near Madrasi Camp is being carried out strictly in compliance with court orders. She emphasized that neither the government nor the administration has any discretion in the matter.

Speaking on the issue, Gupta said, "The court has ordered the removal of these slums multiple times. Neither the government nor the administration can override these legal directives. The slums along the Barapullah drain are obstructing the path of cleaning equipment. If the drain is not cleaned, it could lead to flooding in Delhi, just like in 2023."
