NEW DELHI, Oct. 21 -- Over 1.67 million deaths were linked to air pollution in India in 2019 that also contributed to 116,000 infant deaths in their first month of life, revealed the State of Global Air 2020 released by the Health Effects Institute (HEI) in cooperation with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington and the University of British Columbia.
The findings of the report are based on the most recent Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study published in the international medical journal, The Lancet last week.
