New Delhi, April 7 -- Delhi sweltered in a heatwave on Monday, with temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius in parts of the capital city during the day. As temperatures soar, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the capital city, forecasting a heatwave to persist until Wednesday, April 9.

According to the weather agency, Ayanagar and the Ridge area of the city recorded a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, while Safdarjung was close by with 40.2.

Overall, Delhi's maximum temperature was 39 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature was 20.2 degrees Celsius.
