Kuala Lampur, Oct. 4 -- As the hub of Mandopop, Taiwan has produced many popular singers and bands that have a pervasive influence in the Chinese-language music industry. From the 1970s to the 1980s, the iconic songbird Teresa Teng, whose music blends traditional and Western pop styles, captivated East Asia. By the 1990s, media globalization and cultural hybridity between the Mandopop and Cantopop further propelled Taiwanese music to a global audience.
